Can i change default "12346" port for Appwarp JS websockets?

Hello!

Considering my previous issue with connection (http://forum.shephertz.com/?qa=975/could-not-connect-to-appwarp-api) i can assume that i will lost significant % of users in my app due to your default set up websockets port.

Is there any chances to get it changed for example to default :80 port? Which will be more than enough i think. Maybe some additional payment required for that?

I'm still looking at your API as backend for my next game, but this issue is bothering me.

Thanks.

AppWarp cloud doesn't allow for such customizations. I believe only in some offices the IT team will block outgoing traffic on ports other than 80. Mostly firewalls are geared towards protecting machines from incoming traffic. Do you expect a significant % of users in this kind of a setup? Is your app a productivity app targeting businesses?

The other option you have is to use AppWarp S2 (http://appwarps2.shephertz.com/). This is authoritative server that you can host yourself and modify the default listen port. The client usage is almost the same as AppWarp cloud as the server is based on what powers our cloud solution.

We also offer hosting of this on to our PaaS (App42Paas) offering - http://app42paas.shephertz.com/dev-center/gpaas/ on which we can customize the ports for you if required.

Hello, thanks for the reply!

My main worry is about that i can't predict which % of users can have problems with closed ports. My games audience is mostly mid-aged and above people, and i assume they are playing a lot from working places. I'm going to create very "friends online" dependent game, so any connection problems will cause huge users frustration. Same lowers the efficiency of paid traffic.

I was thinking about AppWarp S2, but my games have sometimes spikes up to 800 ccu's (not often, but they exist), so i will have to implement some kind of queue or whatever to fit free version. As indie dev, i can't afford full version yet. Also i have 0 knowledge in Java, so tuning in and fixing troubles will be hard for me (yeah, i know about GPaas, but free version limitation strikes again).
