recommender service how-to

IS there a tutorial or how-to on the recommender service. The documentation is a bit sketchy. Will it be usable in the following scenario - different users create different objects.. Does the recommendation service give me a list of objects based on predefined user preferences? IS that how it works? Can it be any object?

Recommendation service is based on User/Item preference however it could be any two objects.

Unfortunatley there is no tutorial and only doc is available, we are working on it and will update it ASAP.
